Honoring the Steel Legacy of Sparrows Point, Maryland
Sparrows Point, Maryland was once home to one of the world's most influential industrial centers, where Bethlehem Steel Corporation produced the steel behind American skylines, naval fleets, and bridges throughout the 20th century. JD Fields & Company, Inc. reflects on that storied heritage through a collection of archived photographs, shared with permission from the Historical Society of Baltimore County and the Enoch Pratt Free Library. As JD Fields expands its own mill at Sparrows Point, the company looks to carry that legacy forward with greater capability and purpose for generations to come.

For decades, Sparrows Point, Maryland, stood as one of the world’s great industrial powerhouses. Throughout the 20th century, Bethlehem Steel Corporation drove the innovation, producing steel that shaped American skylines, naval fleets, bridges, pipelines, and the livelihoods of thousands of families.
JD Fields & Company, Inc. continues that legacy. Every project is an opportunity to leave a lasting mark. Every expansion represents our commitment to serving our clients and our country with greater capability and purpose. We share these archived photographs in tribute to the rich industrial heritage of Sparrows Point, Maryland. Engineering the Glass City Riverwalk: JD Fields' Seawall Solution in Toledo, Ohio
JD Fields & Company, Inc. played a key role in transforming Toledo's Maumee River shoreline as part of the Glass City Riverwalk project. Using a Value Engineering Change Proposal (VECP), the team substituted traditional anchor systems with an innovative sawtooth sheet piling design featuring PZC 18 sheets arranged as Deadman tail walls, accelerating construction while reducing equipment needs. The full material supply included HP piles, pipe, and over 1,600 tons of sheet pile across the project, delivered in partnership with E.L. Robinson Engineering, Kokosing Construction Co., and Baseline Supply LLC.
